NaPoWriMo Day 6: Language Barrier

WP_20161008_15_20_29_Pro

I am trying, truly, I am. Have patience with me all you bilingual, tri-lingual, multi-lingually talented people!

I wish I could speak another language.

It’s not for lack of trying, really.

I’ve made the flashcards,

Taken the classes,

Practiced online.

But those words just do not stick.

Oh, how we all know the joke,

If you only speak one language,

You’re American!

I wanna cry.

I’m trying.

My brain just doesn’t work that way.

Instead, I have odd phrases stuck in my head,

From the languages I’ve attempted,

So “Bienvenidos ala Clase de Espanol Uno, mortui non mordant, jom pergi ke Thailand, and 안녕하세요, 뽀뽀!”

Which, vaguely translated, means,

“Welcome to Spanish Class 1, dead men tell no tales, let’s go to Thailand, and hello, kiss!”

Which is about as helpful as it sounds…
